Nefertiti by Michelle Moran
Reviewed by Ashley.T
As Iam such an Ancient Egypt enthusiast I just had to read this book. And I was really pleased that I did because this book was such an enjoyable read that I cannot allow it to be ignored. Based on the beautiful yet lethal Nefertiti she is betrothed

Proof Of Youth by Go Team!
Reviewed by Martin
This band makes music that is nothing short of genius. They are a big shot of the happiness drug without the nasty come down!

Gather in the Mushrooms by Various Artists
Reviewed by Graeme
This weird and wonderful compilation of songs from the underground folk scene of the late sixties/early seventies features well known and obscure artists in equal measure.

Lady's Bridge by Richard Hawley
Reviewed by Graeme
Hawley's latest album conforms his place as one of the finest singer/songwriters around today, if not ever. The finest thing to come out of Sheffield since Stainless Steel (except maybe Jarvis Cocker).

Let The Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist
Reviewed by Ashley
This book is so unique that it surpasses all those other mediocre vampire novels. The story is set around these two children, Oskar and Eli. Brought together by the troubles in their lives they are not so different from one another except their ages, Oskar being 12 and Eli

Man is Wolf to Man by Janusz Bardach
Reviewed by Ashley
This true story of Janusz survival of Stalin's Gulags is probably the most shocking book I've read in a long time. We've all heard about the concentration camps of Nazi Germany, well Stalin's Gulags were just as inhumane. Janusz as a young man supported the ideas of Stalin,

Cairo Diary by Maxim Chattam
Reviewed by Ashley
This fantastic new book was a great read from start to finish, with so many twists I was gripped from the start. This story begins with the main character Marion who has had to go into hiding due to her revealing a secret of the French state. She

I am Legend by Richard Matheson
Reviewed by Lisa S
Robert Neville is the last man on earth, all others have been struck by a deadly virus which had changed them into blood thirsty mutants. He must fight them every night to live. A thought provoking book with a twist. Read this before you see the movie!

Musicophilia by Oliver Sacks
Reviewed by Lisa S
By the author of 'The Man who Mistook his Wife for a Hat' comes a fantastic new book. One of the greatest clinical writers of our time, Oliver Sacks has come up shining once again. If you're passionate about music, this is the book for you. He tells you how

Pans Labyrinth by Guillermo del Torro
Reviewed by Lisa
Pans Labyrinth is a brilliant film set after the Spanish Civil War. Where Ofelia is lost and lonely until Pan, a fawn takes her to a magical labyrinth. This takes her on a mysterious adventure to find out her true identity. Another amazing film from the director of the 'Devils

Stornoway Way by Kevin MacNeil
Reviewed by Kevin M
Brimful of vim and vigour, this novel sparkles like an old barfly telling you a string of filthy one-liners, pearls of wisdom and parables to melt your heart. As the novel suggests, this book is not set in the back of beyond but the very heart of beyond. A

Marley and Me by John Grogan
Reviewed by Martin
Hilarious tale of an unruly dog and his family. If you've ever known, had or wanted a dog, you should not let this book pass you by. If there was to be a dog hall of fame. Surely Marley would be one of the first entries.

Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer
Reviewed by Ewan
A story that is both inspiring and harrowing at the same time. Wonderfully told and leaves you pondering many things. Having romantic fantasies about the wild could lead to an absolute disaster.

Mister Pip by Lloyd Jones
Reviewed by Hanni
A mesmerising story that probably deserved to win the Booker prize. Dark yet uplifting. A charming book that lingers in your head for a very long time afterwards.

Adrift in Caledonia by Nick Thorpe
Reviewed by Hanni
Simply a wonderful tale of a man who hitched a ride, on every boat imaginable, all around Scotland. Full of humour and astute observations about Scotland and it's people. A real gem.

The Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill
Reviewed by Ashley.T
This is probably one of the scariest books I've read in a long time. Judas Coyne the main character is a tired out rock-star but this changes when he buys a ghost off the internet. All hell breaks loose when he receives a package containing a heart-shaped box.

The Roaring of the Labyrinth by Clio Gray
Reviewed by Lisa
A local lady who's writing is as good as anything coming from the crime genre "superstars". If there is any justice in the world Gray's books will become, the world phenomenon they so richly deserve.

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Reviewed by Ashley.T
A story narrated by death himself, he sets the scene in Nazi Germany 1939. The war is still raging and death is busier than ever, with so many collections he comes across the book thief and so the story begins. This is a true gem, you don't find novels

Lust for Life by Iggy Pop
Reviewed by Ewan
It reminds me of when I was young. A brilliant CD with lots of catchy tunes that bring a feeling of youth and anger!
