From author events, to weekly live music performances Borders Gateshead is rapidly becoming an important cultural venue. Here is a brief low-down on what you can expect from your store:

Eleanor Patrick "Scordril" Signing 12:00 pm, Sat 13th Dec 2008
Join fantastic new author Eleanor Patrick at Borders Gateshead, where she will be signing copies of her new book for children 'Scordril'. The book is set in 1950 in East Lothian, Scotland and tells the tale of an ancient magic that has imprisoned the dragons of Traprain Law. A messenger arrives at Scordril's Musselburgh layr, pleading for help. Meanwhile, Morris and Flick are spending the school holidays camping in the shadow of the Law, unaware of the danger they are in. Treachery and betrayal, loyalty and courage feature as both dragons and humans risk everything to save themselves from the evil invaders and their sinister dragongrid. An excellent event for fans of children's fantasy stories.

In celebration of the launch of her new book 'Chords and Discords', Roz Southey will be in store meeting readers, and signing copies of the second period novel to star Charles Patterson. Prepare for music and mayhem in 18th century Newcastle, as the trouble unfolds.

Come along to Borders Gateshead and meet George Miller,fresh from his appearances on ITV's 'East Side Stories'. Local author Roz Wyllie will be in-store on Sunday the 14th of November from 1pm signing copies of her new book 'Everything You Ever Wanted'. So come along and pick up a signed copy of this excellent, controversial book, set in the summer of 1991. 'Everything You Ever Wanted': "'I'm every woman they have ever dreamt of. In-Store Acoustic Music Promotion: Michael Woods 01:00 pm, Sat 20th Dec 2008
On Saturday 20th of December, Borders Gateshead is proud to present a live acoustic promotion by local musician Michael Woods, who will be launching his new CD. The self-styled fingerpicking, ragtime, bottleneck and blues guitarist will be playing material from both of his albums, the first of which will be available to buy from the day of the event.
